The Promenade des Anglais is a bustling boardwalk that extends along the beautiful coastline of Nice. On one side of the three-mile (five-kilometer) stretch of pavement, there are blue and white umbrellas, pebbled beaches, and a blue sea. A busy road separates the cafés, restaurants, and upmarket hotels on the opposite side.
During a morning tour of Casino Monte-Carlo's marbled halls, marvel at the Belle Époque grandeur. Spend an evening at one of the casino's many gaming tables. The sophisticated setting and well-dressed clientele make this a popular choice for those searching for a high-end gambling experience. The famed casino draws more than just gamblers; it is also popular with art enthusiasts who come to attend ballet, opera, and classical music performances at the Salle Garnier concert theater.
Nice's major square is Place Massena. The wide plaza is dotted with stores and restaurants and connects the Old and New Towns. It is located at the intersection of many major boulevards, including the majestic Avenue Jean Médecin. Locals stop by on their way to school or work. Stop for a coffee at one of the cafés located around the square's perimeter and watch the action. The tramway passes through the plaza's center, but it is generally pedestrian-only.
Play soccer or rugby with other sports lovers at the Allianz Riviera, Nice's best stadium. The facility is the home pitch of OGC Nice, the city's popular soccer team that competes in France's top level, Ligue 1. Toulon, one of France's most successful rugby union teams, plays home games at the stadium on occasion.
Monaco Harbor stretches almost the entire length of the principality and includes some of the most impressive landmarks that the small country offers. Stroll along the lively quays, stopping at museums and palaces along the way, or step aboard a water taxi and view the sights while drifting on the Mediterranean.
